Concert in Fond Memory of Alicia de Larrocha (2012)

Music lovers all over the world have tremendously missed Alicia de Larrocha, the renowned Spanish pianist, since her death on 25th September 2009. Now that three years have passed, three local piano performers – Lee Kam Yuen, Arthur Leung and Thoman Tam who show great ardor for Madame de Larrocha, performed a number of classical and Spanish piano masterpieces which were much favored by this piano legend. They include Cantos de España by Albeniz which displays impressive regional flavors, Mompou’s cryptical work Musica Callada and Granados’ concise and exquisite set pieces Valses Poéticos. Madame de Larrocha was not only the unparalleled interpreter of Spanish music, but also a brilliant performer of Mozart, Chopin and Schumann. Well-known pieces by these three composers will also be offered in the concert.

with segments of music by Albéniz, Chopin, Falla, Granados, Mompou, Mozart, Schumann and Turina.
